Interview with Paul Gillum – Liaison for the City of Astoria

This is an interview I did on september 2015.
Paul Gillum was the liaison for the City of Astoria during the filming of The Goonies.
I first met him during the 30th anniversary event.
I came back to Astoria and we had a coffee at “Coffee Girl” while talking about the Goonies.
Sorry for the bad quality, this is my very first video interview.

EDITED on June 20, 2017.
Paul Gillum

I’m sad, very sad to say that Paul past away on Sunday 18 in Astoria.
I feel honored to have met him and did this interview.
I wish I could have spent more time with him to speak about his life as a Police officer and not only the Goonies.
Paul was a lovely man and I can’t believe I won’t meet him again during my next trip to Astoria.. My condelences to his family. RIP my friend.

Astoria Police Department’s facebook post :

Paul was awarded numerous Meritorious Service Commendations and was twice awarded the department’s Medal of Valor in 1988 and again 1989. This award recognizes acts of true valor or heroism.

Paul was a valued member of the Astoria Police Department family and he will be missed. Paul is survived by his wife Jo, son James and wife Laura, and his brother Retired APD Police Corporal Tim Gillum.
